Z-Stick Gen5.
Your gateway to building your own Z-Wave gateway
Z-Stick Gen5 lets you build your own gateway. A gateway that is locally hosted. A gateway that is cloud free. One with the features and security your home need. And one that can communicate with over 230 Z-Wave devices as you gradually expand your smart home.
Pick your platform.
Z-Stick Gen5 is a Z-Wave Plus antenna that works with any platform.
It’s been designed to bring Z-Wave to every computer platform. You can use it with a PC, HTPC or laptop, with Mac, Linux or Windows, with single-board computers such as Raspberry Pi, and even select NAS systems such as the Asus’ Asustor.
Using a combination of such platforms and Z-Stick Gen5 immediately gives you 2 big advantages over a lot of standard gateways;
Local hosting.
Remote backups are great. But when your smart home isn’t hosted locally then neither is your home’s security. Take control of your smart home and your security by building your own Z-Wave gateway and hosting it locally.
Cloud free.
Hosting in the cloud seems great until servers go down or gateway makers go out of business. Your smart home suddenly isn’t so smart; it’s completely inoperable instead. Most Z-Wave gateways depend on the cloud – build your own to avoid downtime and a broken smart home.
Pick your software.
Once you’ve decided which platform to use Z-Stick Gen5 with, it’s time to select the software you want to use to power your gateway and your smart home.
Works with open source software.
Ever since the communication code of Z-Wave was made public by its creators, open source software has come a long way. Typically paired with Raspberry Pi, Z-Stick Gen5 can be used with these open source platforms to power your Z-Wave smart home.
Depend on Z-Wave.
Z-Wave is huge. There are over 2,100 different devices available including a huge range of control and automation devices made by Aeotec. And Z-Stick Gen5 doesn’t just offer Z-Wave, it offers the best version of it.
Z-Stick Gen5 is powered by Z-Wave Plus and Aeotec’s Gen5 stack.
